Side Mirrors

Hi Guys,

I broke my passenger side mirror of my 2002 Silverado and was wondering how to replace it. There seems to be a removeable plastic cover on the inside of the door panel adjacent to the mirror fastening point.
If anyone has done this...how does this panle trim come off...I'd hate to pry on it and break that too.
Thanks in advance for your input.

I had mine off once. You just pull straight out. Try to get your fingers or a screwdriver close to the plastic clip while pulling. They actually come off really really easy.

Thanks for the info....I think I'll wait for warmer weather...that plastic will likely just snap off in my hands in these temperatures. I take it the mounting bolts are behind that panel..?...Do you know if the electrical plug is accessible from there as well? I am also cringing to find out the cost of a new mirror..... :banghead:

I'm afraid I'm not much help. I think the bolt was there. The Mirrors are around 100 bucks i think (online anyways) for unheated power mirrors. and FYI... if you do break that little plastic piece, GMs plastic parts are cheap at dealerships anyways. I got my plastic door sills replaced for 4 bucks each recently from my local dealership. Good luck with the mirror

There are tons of side mirrors on ebay.

Thanks Tim,
I'll check my dealer first to see how far off the mark he is. He's surprised me a few times now with competitive prices....but it's not consistent by any means.
Have you changed one of these before....?..My question now, is can the electrical plugs be reached without dismantling the whole door?

Hi barry,
I have replaced a side mirror on a Ford Ranger and they are similar. The harness is usually in easy reach.
Good luck, Tim

Thanks Tim,

I have a new mirror on order and the Parts guy says it's just like you said to change...shouldn't be too bad.

Thanks Again,

Barry
