If this is considered another "Bad or evil" religon thread, sorry in advance and mods delete it if you think its going to start flaming or what ever
I was watching southpark, and they had a interesting episode where a family of mormons come to live in south park and one of the star children (stan or something, i'm not a regular viewer sorry) started to become friends with this other child that belonged to the faith of mormonism(sp) and the show goes on to explain the background of the mormon faith. This is where i get lost. I know its a comedic show and it has false information but a signifigant portion of that information is based on reality. What i want to know is do the mormans really belive the 2and coming of Christ came to the Americas? This is very interesting to me and provokes alot of questions. I mean you have to think why would god if he only sent 1 of his son's down to Earth, to spread his words, whats the fairness in sending him to only half the world? when the whole world is not in comunication with each other it would seem the best possible outcome of success would be to send at the very least 2 beings down to Earth to spread the word to the most people possible. That seems like the best way to cover the most area with the littlest effort, then trying to wait for the word to travel by mouth to the other side of the planet, which did take 1700 years or what ever till Colubus(sp) went over.

You might just want to do some google searches on Mormonism. There are a lot of skeptics and a lot of true believers. I actually live in Utah where about 75% of the population is LDS, and my mom was raised LDS, but I don't know enough to answer your questions.

Actually one of the creators is Mormon. And he basically just poked fun at his religion in that episode.

No problem with religion threads as long as they are kept within AF user guidelines.I 'm not going to be accused of bias for deleting individual posts,so if it looks like the thread is destined to turn to shit,I'll close it without any hesitation.

Grease is the word
Yes, one of the creators (I dont remember which) is Mormon. You also have to remember he boiled the entire Mormon faith into a 24 minute cartoon.

this is repost but ill answer his question the best i can. we believe that after christ was crucified and resurrected(sp). god sent jesus to the americas to teach the people here. this is why i believe the aztecs believed when cortez came they actually thought it was the second coming of christ. because i believe christ came and told him he would return. the book of mormon is aboutbefore christ came, how the people got to the americas, when christ came and what happened after he left. anyway these are my own beliefs so please dont flame me if you disagree. thank you

We all believe what we want to believe, or were taught to believe. No one should look down on any other person for that. Maybe that is why I can't seem to understand the Middle East at all....
