I need some detailed instructions for taking the body off a 79 corvette. Anybody out there that's done this giving input will be greatly appreciated. I have already started on the body mounts but I need to know all the other stuff that needs to be removed or otherwise. Also if any one knows how to make the rack for resting the body on when it's off the frame that would be great too.
Thanks
Daniel

What has got to be undone....everything under the car.Shifter linkage or cable, gastank wires and hoses, engine wiring, and fuel lines, heater lines, vaccuum lines, gas pedal linkage, front frame extensions, front and rear bumper covers, ground straps and cables.steering colum at the joint above the steering box.alternator, rad and rad support.parking brake cables.
As for the rack,I used two 4"x4"x7' under the car's width, and four 3"x3"x1' in the birdcage channels,to sit on the 4x4x7.I the proceeded to lift the car side by side, in alternance, six inches at a time using 3"x3"x15" in a square pattern.Lifted high enough to roll the frame out from under the body.
Once the frame out from under the car,I used more 3x3x15 to support the rear fiberglass section,as it sags, causing the doors to stay open,so that nothing breaks.I'll be making special supports this summer as I'll be replacing the lower section of my birdcage. That should be a good contract, holding it up from the upper door hinge and the rear rollbar section of the birdcage,as well as the rear fiberglass section, and the nose.
