Hello,

I have a Brand new passat wagon glx 4motion 2004 V6 triptronic.

What kind of gas are you using? Is 89 grade OK?
Here in Boston we have only 87, 89, or 93, but not the recommended 91 from VW.

please let me know.

If you don't notice any spark knock under acceleration or loss of performance, i'd use the 89. I don't think VW has any way of checking what you use if a warranty issue comes up.

I would pump the 93 octane as I believe it states 91 as a minimum. I've had to run lower octane in my car in a pinch and while I didn't experience any problems with it, I choose to not go there if I can help it. I've read posts from other people on other forums who've tested it and they typically get better mileage on the higher octane gas as it burns slower and hotter. My understanding is that your computer will eventually reset itself to compensate for the lower octane so knocking etc. shouldn't be an issue if you choose to go that route.
