:eek2: IT'S ALIVE!!!! IT'S ALIVE!!!! :bananasmi :ylsuper: :grinyes:
Rebirth took place at 8:52p.m. CST
Well.... I'm not sure what else to say... I've had the battery charging on a trickle charger for the past three days (I was ready to try and crank it Tuesday but the battery was dead)... hooked the battery back up to the car... held my breath... and turned the key. Started on the FIRST try!
Oh man, I was so happy I ran out of my shop and ran around screaming and jumping for joy. And I can't wipe this damned grin off my face for nothin'!
The check engine light came on, but I'm almost positive it's because I've got the O2 sensor hooked up wrong... can't check the ECU code yet because I have yet to hook a switch to the ECU jumper.... Tomorrow night I'll probably tackle that problem.
If anyone has any questions... feel free to ask anything you like...
I took a small video, but unfortunately have no website to host it.. otherwise I'd let you all see the first start up for yourselves.

Congratulations, man. That's got to be a great feeling-especially getting it to crank on the first try. :bigthumb:

how small of a vid? i could probably host it for ya for a week or two :D. To check the code before hooking up a switch just ground that wire and it'll show the codes.
congrats!

The movie's a little under 600kb
and I didn't think about grounding it out at the time... but the thermometer in the shop was reading 28 degrees when I was leaving, and I've already had a long day at work... I really just wanted to see it start up tonight... I couldn't wait until tomorrow afternoon! :icon16:
Next on my 'to do' list is... to put the suspension back together, get the headlights put on, sell my Camaro, and put the Civic in the body shop
congrats!

Ok... checked the ECU codes today...
I got 4 short flashes then 4 long flashes and then 9 more short...
Code 4 = Crank Angle Sensor?
Code 9 = #1 cylinder position?
Rechecked all my wiring, and everything seems to be in good order, and then engine was running Good today while I had it going... didn't bog at all while I rev'd it, idled very smoothly.
Any ideas?

were there pause in between each set of flashes?
cause that would be code 4, 9 and 40 if there was.

Yeah... 4 quick flashes *pause* 4 short flashes *pause* 9 quick flashes
And it kept repeating.
What would a code 40 be?

i looked here and i dont see a code 40.... weird.
http://hybrid2.honda-perf.org/tech/codes.html
Well, I checked and rechecked my wiring... even tried switching the crank angle sensors around and ran the car... but then it was running kind of rough and bogging down, and it didn't give me an engine code at all, the check engine light just wouldn't go off.... switched it back, and the engine ran find again, but spit me some codes out.
I don't know what else to do at this point.
Come to think of it... that code 40 was probably a 41... which would be the O2 sensor, and make pleanty of sense, because I thought I had it hooked up wrong to begin with... no problem to switch around though :P

No... it's a JDM D15B VTEC out of a Japanese Civic VTi... although I'm using the USDM P28 ECU.
What sucks about getting it running this weekend is, I've got a heavy work schedule all the rest of this week... and then valentines day this weekend, so I'll be spending time with my girl instead of my car. No clue when I'll next have some good days to work on it.

Did you use the A6 dizzy or the d15b dizzy? I'm doing this same exact swap and I have bought the OBD0 to OBD1 wiring harness. Now is it plug n' play? Do I have to mess w/ any wiring under the hood???

I bought the P28 ECU and Distributor and am running those on the engine... I tried the D15B distributor at first, just to see if it would work, but got no fire... put the P28 Distributor on and it fired right up.
As far as the wiring... my car was a DX, so I had to do a good bit of rewiring to convert to MPFI... if you've already got an Si you should have a much easier time.
Only confusing wiring I came across was when converting a few of my 4th gen engine harness plugs over to the D15B engine harness plugs (like at the temperature sensor on the thermostat housing) cause not all of the wire colors from the 5th gen harness matched up with the 4th gen... although 'most' of them did.
The only thing I still haven't gotten figured out is the 4 wire O2 sensor, but I've got the wires on plugs, and I'm just going to switch them around until I get the right combination and the ECU code I'm getting goes away.
Any other wiring is really not any trouble... (VTEC solonoid, VTEC oil pressure sensor)

Okay, I do have an Si. So my stock dizzy should work on the D15??? I'm no good w/ wiring that's why I'm asking if I need to re-wire anything in the engine bay~

You can try your distributor... but I matched my ECU to my distributor... that's what I've always heard you have to do at least.
Also, if you're using the OBD1 injectors, you're going to have to splice your injector wires on to the OBD1 injector clips, cause I don't think they match up...
And if you use the OBD1 injectors, you need to cut the 5 wires off at your injector resistor box and splice them all together.

How does your car respond to the new engine? How do you like D15B? And where did you buy it? I noticed that you're in TX. I'm in OK...if you bought it from Dallas, maybe I can drive down there and save on shipping.

Well, I've just had the engine running sitting in my shop because my car is still sitting up on jack stands because I've got the entire of the suspension still taken apart in the front (made for easier access to parts of the engine). So far the engine revvs good... we'll see how it performs sometime within the next month or so.
I'm a little south of the Dallas area, but I don't know of anyone there that imports the engine.. I ordered mine from hmotorsonline.com, shipped to my door step.

Well, I took my stepdad out to my shop today to show him the engine being and start the engine for him...
weird thing now...
NOW the engine gave me a Code 8, and a Code 41.... After having changed 'nothing' over night...
So that's still the O2 sensor... and the Code 8 would be the TDC... right?
Still a problem to do with a sensor in the distributor...
I'm starting to think it's just giving me trouble because it hasn't been run in a while, and all the problems (sept the O2 sensor) might work themselves out on their own.
