1989 Ninety-Eight Regency Starting problems

Hopefully one of you will have had this same problem or know of a possible solution. This is a 1989 Olds Ninety Eight Regency with 207000 miles. Has been a very reliable car. Only problems have been, had to change alternators several times, starter, water pump. The problem now is when it has rained, the next morning the car does not want to start. Usually, the first attempt to start it, it almost starts but sputters and dies. Then it will turn over, maybe backfire a time or two, but not start. But once it dries, it will start and run fine. Any suggestions??

On your next dry sunny day, get a spray bottle full of water. Start the car. Spray the plug wires with the spray bottle. If the engine starts to run poorly or dies, replace the plug wires.

To prove the point, if you have access to a compressor and air nozzle, blow dry the plug wires after wetting them down. If the engine runs better, you know.
