Its the gear box and not the engine that has the clutch set up in it.
And the B16a2 whether its the US or Jap spec engine only even came with a gear box with a hydrolic clutch.
It was the older B16a, only sold in Japan and limited numbers in Europe that had a Cable clutch.
If you did however get given an older engine, then you can use a latter gear box, from either a B16, or B18 powered car.

Yep, what Moppie said. JDM B16A's had the cable transmission. USDM and JDM B16A2 and B16A3 have hydrolic transmissions.
'96+ B16A2's were OBDII and '95- B16A2/A3's were OBDI.

Thats the worst explaination of it I have ever heard.
89-91 JDM B16A-cable tranny, OBD 0
89-91 EDM B16A1-cable tranny, OBD 0
92-95 JDM B16A-hydraulic tranny, OBD I
92-95 EDM B16A-hydrualic tranny OBD I
94-95 USDM B16A3-hydraulic tranny, OBD I
96-00 JDM B16A-hydraulic trany OBD II and IIb
96-00 EDM B16A2-hydraulic tranny OBD II and IIb
96-97 USDM B16A2 hydraulic tranny OBD II
99-00 USDM B16A2 hydraulic tranny, OBD IIb
There are other variations out there, but if you have a B16A2 and it has a cable tranny, then someone swapped the tranny.
