to make an UGLY story short lets jus say

after I was released and they took off my cuffs i was presented with these 4 citations...

1. euro tailights I guess you can't have clears?

2. catback exhaust? this ones new to me? i dind't know you couldn't have these? why is that? he said somethign about emmsions?

3. drivin an unregistered vehicle lets jus focus on #1+#2 please...

4. drvin while license is suspended again lets keep the focus on the 1st two

i have court in a month and i'm lookin at about $700 in tickets..

my question is I thought was pretty sure euro's were okay by the law? not ONLY do i remember reading something about that somewhere but ALSO everyone sells them!!! and EVEN at that A lot of NEW cars brand new straight OUT the factory ARE coming with them? dodge truck rams, lexus SUV's an so on? so whats the deal with the ligths situation? thats why he pulled me over he claims... my civic has had clears for 2-3 years now and I been pulled over on that too and NOBODY meanin other officers even said anything about them? one even said nice lights? so again whats the deal?

an the exhuast? hmm not sure about that i see everybody with them its NOT outrageiously loud or anthying? even has a silencer its at an angle since it couldn't fit straight on...so these are illegal too?

someobdy help me understand? cuz basically i'm lookin at a lot of UNMODz on this meaning replacing the custom cat back exhuast with a regular one and gettin "regular" taillights?

i got pulled over in WI near milwaukee, WAukesh, WI 53189
and my ride is a "tricked" out crx....

thanks all

any INPUT appreciated!!

one thousand

Alot of "Altezza Style" tail lights are illegal in alot of states. Emissions vary from every state. There is a site somewhere that will tell you different state laws and modding your car. If I find it I'll post it later.

If you look on the tail light housing, you should see "DOT" and some numbers on it somewhere, usually on the part that is visible when installed, this is the Department of Transportation approval #, meaning it's street legal. Last I heard, clear tail lights aren't, at least here in NY.

As for your exhaust, was it a name brand exhaust that was modified to fit the car? Most name brand exhaust systems, to the best of my knowledge, are street legal. Mine even came with a certificate of legality, I keep it in the glove box just in case.

Clear corners and clear taillights? Yeah, those are illegal I'm pretty sure cause when I got pulled over a while ago, I got cited for my clear corner. Theres a way around it though, if you got clear corners just put orange bulbs in then and orange bulbs in the back if you need to before the court hearing and plead not guilty to the clear corners. Good luck!

Oh as for the cat. back exhaust, I know that some states mad it a law that you can't have that type of exhaust, cause it wont pass inspection unless of course you got connections at those places. Also, I'm just assuming you got a loud muffler, the state probably has a decibel (dB ) max rating, meaning you can get find if you exhaust is louder than that number....yea it's pretty gay, but if they didn't impound yer car get all that shit off their and plead not guilty.

Go to your library and pick up a copy of your states vehicle code book. This is the only way to beat the tickets.

Most states say the back of the vehicle must reflect red, and the tail and brake lights must light up red. Rear turn signals may be red or amber. Front turn signals must be amber. The vehicle may have no blue lights and no red forward facing lights.

Exhaust systems are legal as long as they do not bypass any emmisions equipment and do not exceed noise limits.

So as long as you meet those requirements you should be able to pass, but ring the numbers corresponding to the laws with you. The ticket should give you an idea what to look up (it should list what codes you broke).
