forced induction: additional wear and tear?

i am mainly concerned about the turbo charger. does an added turbo charger increase the wear and tear on your previously stock engine? how about a s/c?

Not really, as long as you lower the compression accordingly, keep the air/fuel mixture in balance, keep the air intake charge cool, maintain the turbo the right way, and make sure to get the car tuned to run in harmony with the new go fast parts you should have a longer lasting engine than if you modded it to run N/A since the engine won't have to work as hard to make the same power. You can also retain good fuel mileage with a turbo.

with turbo you have to be untop of the maintaince that is key. but like polygon said it wont put to much stress .

When power is increased, so is the stress on the engine. However, the increase in stress from a turbocharger is smaller than conventional tuning to increase power.

On the safe side though, it's always good to get a forged crank and pistons when adding Forced Induction, be it turbo or S/C. Some engines just aren't made to handle it.
