I want a 90 GTS-4. I like in the US. How much is that gona cost me?

200,000 Yen (1800 bucks), plus 800 dollars to import, 15K to legalize it...so about 18-20 grand.

why does it cost so much for it to be legal? Do you just pay that so you can have the car here or is that to buy parts to make it legal? And is 18-20 k worth it?

You have to go through MotoRex. At the end of the day the usually will not bring in the GTS-t's or GTS4 due to what has to be done to comply them. The cost is very prohibitive, but if you place an order with them they will bring it.

If I ordered through them how much would I spend?

I am not sure but I would imagine nearing the $20 - $25,000 mark.

I bought the new Sport Compact Car mag at work tongiht. It has this article about motorrex. This guy was test driving a 1998 GTR with 30k on it. That car was 53k. I don't think I would pay close to that for any car. Not to mention I can't afford it. I wish I could afford the 90 GTS but I'm still in high school so maybe after college.

Well then they are dropping their prices. Last time a guy who visits our other forums bought his R32 GTR which is a 1991 in white he paid nearly $35,000 USD for it.

You havent done any research have you? Did you even go the the motorex site?

Supra and GTR both have excellent engines that can handle some gnarly hp on the stock bottom end. Stock GTR's are not that special. Do a few little things and youre on track :D

Basically look at cars you can actually afford, and dont bring in a GTS cos that would be bloody stupid. Yay 2 or 2.5L non turbos....
GTS-t on the other hand, thats fine. Not so quick stock, but you can get them moving with some mods.

lets just say that R33 in the movie is too valuable to mess up in the movie. its the same one that Rhys Millen used to break his personal best record in the Pikes Peak Hill Climbing contest by almost 11 seconds. this is stock class racing, and it bested the porsche 911 by 2.6 seconds and beat the WRX which was 500 lbs lighter by 10 seconds. the car was originally white but they painted it yellow for the movie.

well why didn't they just get a diffent one a sup it up. Just the body it didn't have to go fast because most of the shots are fake anyways.

Because i belive it is now to be used as a drag car in the US. I read an article following the install of nitrous to it. Car yellow - engine bay white.

Nevermind. I meant just get one that's not as fast and paint it. I know that supra was a real car. The guy that used to own it live in my state. But the Skyline is a faster car when it's done up, is it not. So just make a car that looks nice and use it for the movie. No one would ever figure it out.

I think it was a concious decision to use the supra because alot more people know the supra line. It would have been nice to use the R33 Skyline as the main car.

What do you mean sup up? What level of modification are we talkin, whats the budget? Please, put your brain into gear.

They both have good engines. There are shitloads of good hp supras around, and same for Skylines, especially in japan.

Both straight 6's, modern supras have a 3L engine, the GTR has 2.6L, and they are both twin turbo.

Asking which of 2 cars is faster when "suped up" is so ambigous its beyond stupid.

For you question of what level? The highest. Which one has the most potential? That's what I was trying to say. I wanted to know which one was a better car.

So back to the reason why this Thread was started. What would it cost me to import a 1990 GTS-4?

You could get a very nice TT Supra for that price. The Supra would kick the Skylines butt.

As for the highest level, they would be even or should I say too close to call. That would be a butt load of money, though. Both are very well built cars, that can handle loads of power.

One thing of interest about the F&F movie though, not sure if it was because NOS was a major sponser, but you don't need NOS to get a GTR intot he 9s as as been proven here in NZ on a CRAP strip.

Maybe that is why they didn't use a GTR, don't need NOS, not as "interesting" for the watchers.

Check out the top secret website... not sure on the exact URL but I know they have both modified a Skyline GT-R and a Supra RZ (which actually uses a Celica GT-Four engine haha). But that will give you the kinda information your looking for.... I think most people here would agree if they havnt done it to the highest level of modification then they are damn close to it!!
As for importing a Skyline.... for the money you pay in the states (beleive me i know.. i used to live in California!) Its not worth it for what you get... (unless you get a GT-R). Personally.... get a Dodge Stealth!!! or a Supra (which are sold in the US) Both cars have huge potential and are of reasonable prices!! or if your into drifting get a 200sx (which i think is the 240sx in the states...)

I think you have a good way of putting it. If you don't need the nos to do the 9's what's the point. Anyone who thinks that movie is the best car movie I don't think they know much about cars. Or maybe you do but it is really dumb. I like the RX-7 the most that's why I bought the movie. This girl at school has one and I'm in love with it. But thanks for the opinion that's a good way of thinking about it.

I like the look. That's all I wanted it for. I'm not gonna really buy one I was just interested in importing it.

Truth fully if I imported a car I would import a BMW 3 series with a 5 litre engine. Can't get them here. I want one badly.

With Motorex you can't just type in Motorex and get the skyline website. I know I've tried it. There might be a few exceptions of course. And most of the time people just don't know it ever existed.

VW_Redliner....I hope you find the car u really want...I agree with Twuble....a Skyline would probably not be worth it...they seem to cost a packet over there...go a Supra or something ;)

The reason the GTR was not used in the racing scenes is it was on loan from Shawn Morris of MotoRex.

VW_Redliner... BMW's are nice... something about german engineering that is just well its great :) Personally if your going for bang for buck... buy a car in the states (that you dont need to import) that you can get parts or modifacations done to easily... like a supra or rx7 or eclipse or something....

About the NOS thing, the Supra or the Skyline don't need it to do 9's it is just a movie hype thing.

I have watched some Thai DVD about street racing, it's alot better than F&F. The main cars are an EVO vs WRX. It is also alot older than F&F.
One thing about that movie, people actually crash and die, the guys Girl Friend dies in a race....

On the EVO he has a big NOS setup that is all computerised similar to F&F, and he only uses it at the very end to beat the WRX, the car starts to blow up and he goes to turn it off but he will loose and his new chick makes him keep it on and he wins :p

I will never nitrous my car. I just see that as a waste of time and money. Plus you have to canstantly do stuff to you constanly have to do things to your engine so it doesn't get "F"ed up.

What do you have to do constanly to the engine so it doesn't get messed up? Once N2O is set up, its the best bang for the buck. Its a great way to spool up, decrease intake charge temp, with a 100 shot not to hard engine components. Now if your talking 150 and up, there is a lot more to the set up to get it tuned and to prevent that engine from going "POP". I am planning a 8.5 comp ka24det with 12psi and a 100 shot.

He asked what was faster when 'suped up' - you cant really answer that now, can you? Fastest GTR in world VS fastest surpa in the world in what? Circuit, drag, top speed? What level of suped up? It is an IMPOSSIBLE question to answer.

I have time for people who would ask, "do all skyline have turbos", or "is a skyline made by nissan" because these are questions you can answer, im all to happy to help and answer.

I know that was a question that would not have an immediate answer. A lot of cars are just shells of the original. Different engines and totally different parts. It was just a question. Everyone has curiosities. I think a simple "The cost is in direct correlation to how fast you want to go.", would have solved this whole meaningless babble about who is stupid or not.
