has anyone heard of a 6 speed gearbox or conversion kit fo a 96 civic ex?

no.. the stock tranny's already geared for the engine's power curve, so a 6 speed would be retarded

Yes you can do it, but you loose reverse, or yoiu can spend like $10k on the quaife sequential 6-spd unit.
