Ground Clearance

Is the ground clearance on the Gallardo a problem? I'm thinking of getting one but the dealer in NY has only a floor demo that you can't test - and the clearance only seems to be about 3 inches! I'm wondering, given all the steel plates and pot holes on NY roads, can you even drive this in New York city?

I don't have that much trouble. But you will have to be careful in certain places. I drive diagonal to get in the driveway.

My GT3 gives me more trouble than the Gallardo

clarkster, if you wish to share, what vehicles do you have? Could you post pics?

The Gallardo will hit the bottom of the front end if you are not careful. It does NOT have the hydraulic lift that the Murcielago has. Also, do NOT buy this car on blind faith alone. Find one that you can drive. Especially see if you can test the "E" gear vs the 6 speed so you won't be dissapointed in your selection. Hopefully you are not going to fall into the trap of paying over sticker! These cars are now available at MSRP across the country. Good Luck!

I have the Gallardo, Porsche GT3, BMW Z8 and BMW M5

My digital camera is busted, and I just haven't gotten around to either getting a new one or fixing the old one.
But will get that done soon and post some pics.

THanks

How do you like the Z8 compared to your gallardo or GT3? I like the Z8 a lot but always thought that being priced over a 996 TT was unecessary. Would you say it was worth the money?

I'm enjoying the Gallardo much more than the Z8. The GT3 is a different story. It is a "drivers" car much more than either one. You can't screw up in it or you pay the price. There are no electronic helps at all other than ABS. The Gallardo will beat it in a 0-60, but for true race car feel, the GT3 can't be beat. It is a street legal race car.

The Z8, on the other hand is really a poor mans exotic supercar. (Though $135,000 isn't exactly a poor mans car). It's looks can't be beat. But as far as performance, it just doesn't stack up to either the GT3 or Gallardo.

Though, all 3 cars excel at what they were designed for.

Most bang for the buck? Gt3

Clarkster, did you drive your Gallardo on a race track yet? I'm thinking of doing it, this baby is unreal in corners.

No race track yet. But I'll be there.
Too cold around where I am.

And the GT3, afterall it is a track car. It would be interesting to what difference in times you post with the gallardo and GT3.
