Hey, id like to build a 10 sec 1st gen talon. I was wondering how hard it is to do this. Im also a member of my st. louis bord and all the guys in there act like its impossible and that the motor will blow up even when built. They also say that with all the airflow piping like intake exhaust and IC, and a big 16g turbo, that my talon will barley be in the 13s. What do you guys think about these homos.

I say with the aboved mentioned items, you would probably be running 13's on pump gas and maybe somewhere in the 12's on race gas depending on how good of a driver you are. Is the car an AWD or FWD? A 10 sec 1/4 mile is no joke, it takes money, time to build it, and a spare car (for transportation when your other one is broken).

it is possible, my friend had a g1 and it was a beast, very expensive though, he bout a beater of a talon rebuilt the engine... slapped on monster turbo with all the electrical gear you need, ecu and fuel... was ripping the shit outta anything... it was AWD ill get pics and stats later, i have to go to class

it's a 1g, as in 1st generation... it is very possible if you have an AWD. FWD will be much more difficult. 10s is VERY fast. fortunatly you have the powerplant to do it. ask your friends if their motors will go to 450hp on stock internals. i think that mid-upper 11's are the max a 16g will do. 12's are very attainable, even for FWD.

you can do alot with that. you can build boost on the line with an at too. but i'm not sure how much power an AT will hold together...

The ATs do well up to 350 or so, as I understand it. You can get the end clutches upgraded and shift kit installed which prepares it for over 400 HP. Auto trannys can take a good deal of torque before they break, its the clutches you have to worry about. Since the TC is already upgraded, the above mentioned mods will make a nice difference.
Here is my take on the "I want to build a 10 second car" idea... First build a 13 second car. Then build a 12 second car. Then build an 11 second car. Then build a 10 second car. You will learn more and more as you go faster and faster. Tuning mistakes are ok in the 13s, but in the 10s they are disasterous. We all have to walk before we run. Take your time, and learn the process one step at a time :)
