turbo throttle body cleaning

I did not cover up the holes or slits in the throttle body before spraying a ton of carb cleaner through it. Now everything I read says it is very important to cover those but none say why. So I ask WHY?

highly flamible... air should go into a throttle body, im pretty sure carb cleaner shouldnt, i dont think it will have that much of an effect
