ok Wonder how many of you have had the same problem? my 1999 rodeo ls finally died on the road last night. had to get it towed to the mechanic, found out after doing the diagnostics that the fuel pump has gone bad. called dealership its not under warranty as i have appx 60350 miles or so. and it is over by like 350 miles .
so the final bill is 665 $ 350 for the pump , 39.99 for diagnostic , and rest for labour.
wow pretty steep consiering my 2 week paycheck is in there now...
do you any of you think i can do it any cheaper pls help?

I bet you your fuel pump is still good and you ran out of gas because you fuel sending unit is giving false readings the fuel sending unit can be replaced it can be purchased for about $45
Try bringing a gallon or two down to the shop that has your vehicle and dumping it into the tank
turn key on for a few seconds then off for a few then try starting if it does have them replace the fuel sending unit not the pump this job by the chilton manual pays two and a half hrs. therefore they are charging you over $100 per hr
my advice pay them the $39 for their time and take it else where because they are charging more than any dealer would
good luck
