Clutch Problems

Here is the deal... When I shift the gears are starting to grind. The clutch seems to not fully disingage. It is harder than hell to shift. The gears don't always grind and seem to do so more frequently when the car is cold. I have a brand new ACT 2600, clutch master cylindar, and slave cylindar. When the clutch pedal is depressed, there is plenty of tension on the pedal. A mechanic told me today that the pressure plate is probably falling apart. All of the work on the clutch has been performed in the last 6 months and has anywhere from 3-5 thousand miles on it. I have a boost controller, 3 inch exhaust, and porting on a 92 GSX. Anyone recognize this problem? Thanks in advance.

I had problems like that twice, the first time It was because i used the release bearin that came with the clutch and not a OEM bearing.
the second was because the pressure plate broke.
I had brand new 2100,master and slave also.
I'm leaning towards the pressure plate though, do you feel a vibration in the pedal?

i had the same shit happening, mine was due to bent fingers on the pressure plate. i knew i needed a new clutch. shifting would be somtimes really hard and other times easy. eventually a finger on the pressure plate broke off and lodged itself so that all i had was 3rd gear. it was hillarious because i just gave my tune shop 500 to order parts and got about 3 blocks away when it finally happened. had to do a u-turn on a small road in traffic with only 3rd. and as i learned more about the clutch process in the middle of the ordeal i was told that the OEM release bearing was to be used as well

I'm going with a broken clutch fork on this one. Its not uncommon a short time after stepping the pressure plate pressure up so much to break a weak fork. Some are not as strong as others. Get under the car and look at the fork. Its the part going into the tranny that the slave cylinder rod moves. Have a friend step on the clutch pedal. If it seems to twist or rotate as it moves to the left, one of the "legs" is broken. If its not that, and its not the bleeding job half assedly done, you have to look into other options. Most of which require removal of the tranny (including replacing that fork if it is busted).

Yeah, i had the exact same probs with my clutch because my fork was bent which in turn caused my throwout bearing to bust. I got them replaced and felt what a clutch is suppose to feel like for the first time since i bought the car.
