I have a 1986 Olds 98 w/ a 3.8L V6. Going over 50 mph ( I think it is in overdrive) when I step on the gas, the engine seems to run really rough, sputter and accelerate poorly. The car has 59,000 miles, driven by a 86 year old lady to the store. Now it is mine

I've had similar problems. After many checks, I landed on the fuel pump which was defective. That seemed to fix it.

Your spark plug wires may not be connected in the right firing order. Check the order and make sure all the wires are snaped down over the plugs.
