anyone remove the egr valve on a 96 or later cavalier? any difference in performance? i know if i unplug it i will get a check engine code, i'm thinking about plugging the exhause side of it and moving the valve completely away from the original location to another mounting point

What is the reasoning for removing this valve??

did it on my probe and it boosted my high end. it seemed to overfeed my intake with too much already burnt gas when i was at a higher rpm. plus my cold air intake rest along the top of it and touches the bottom of my hood because there is not enough clearance with the egr valve.

You can plug it off if you wish..you will get the codes...and if you have emissions inspection you might have trouble passing..i dont see any problem moving the valve....if you want you can put a vacuum selonid switch on there and stop the vacuum supply at high speeds ...BTW its probably easier to rework the cold air intake position than move that valve...
