OK i have been offered a 4th gen VT civic its a 1990 in white
JDM front end and interior, it has a B16 with 156k and comes with a spare engine and box with 76k on it
now the car has MOT on it until april but the body work is tatty, he wants £400 for it , which seems cheap , they usually go for about £1600 in the UK and it has been stood for 6 months
what do u think , i will try and post some pics up later

Sounds like a deal for me - I'd just figure the cost of the bodywork into the equation - and ensure that there isn't any hidden issues.

yeah..this is quite a bit of rust...with that much exterior rust..I'd be scared of the subframe being rusted :(
one thing you could do... would be to buy it...part it out and throw everything up on ebay.. even with the expensive shipping..people in the US will jump on stuff :) you could make your money back with the bumper and headlights alone ;)

looks a bit nasty after looking at the pics :( It might come up ok though - I'd get a full inspection on the unibody and subframe. BTW - what is it with US and Euro Civics rusting? I have none in my SiR and I've never seen an Aussie GL with rust in it either. We got a special 3 year paint warentee on them new and they were factory rustproofed - you guys didn't get that?
Then again - we don't salt our roads - it's not cold enough most places.
Jim: does Honda UK still access body parts? I need some bits for my SiR?
Cheers

Winter and road salt do a number on our cars in the US.

they salt the roads LOADS over here and its constantly wet not like in Australia lol, plus there is always gravel and wet muddy roads around the UK and people never clean out under the arches etc etc
yeah i can get you parts i would think Setanta chat to me on MSN and i will find out if i can get u anything , the honda dealer is on the opposite side of the road, i will warn u that for geniune parts they ARE NOT cheap , they wanted £105 or $160 USD for the cluster cover (the plastic bit over the guages which bolts onto the dash)
but i can get a price none the less
