do u paint the parts when they are still connected to the tree or branch (the thing where you cut the peices out of)? or do u cut the peices out and then paint them? or glue them on then paint them

Most of the time I cut them off before painting. Sometimes I paint them still attatced to the sprue, or branch. But only when the part is molded in such a way as it wont leave a nasty scar/hole when you cut the part off. Also most parts need to be cleaned up before painting, much harder while still on the sprue.

All of the above. Depending on where it connects to the sprue, how hard it is to hold off the sprue, and where it goes on the car. Wherever possible, I try to take it off the sprue, affix it to something that i can hold easily (like a clip or drill a small hole and stick a pin in the hole, then in a clip) and paint it before attaching. That's not always the case, though.
