I've been browseing through MSN's page about NAIAS (north american international auto show) and it seems like there are a few cars coming out soon enough that are very CRX-esque.
i.e. the dodge Sling Shot

"Based on a smart, the Sling Shot combines very cool looks with strong gas mileage and acceleration similar to many less efficient cars - that is, up to 45 miles per gallon with 0-60 times of about 10 seconds.
Dodge Sling Shot is designed for open-air driving with a main roof panel and side rails over the passenger area that can be stored in the trunk (Sling Shot has two storage areas), while a canvas roof panel can slide back and out of the way like a roll top desk for open-air driving.
Sling Shot features a rear-mounted, 3-cylinder, gasoline engine that is tuned to deliver 100 bhp with a power to weight ratio of 17.4 lbs/bhp. A five-speed gearbox, rack-and-pinion steering, four-wheel independent suspension and four-wheel disc brakes complete the driver-oriented characteristics contributing to the Sling Shot's efficient, responsive and fun-to-drive personality.
The Dodge Sling Shot concept has an interior design influenced by the legacy of Dodge and Chrysler's performance past."
puts this car at only 1740 lbs, a light potent car, 2 seater, even has a similar look to it.
Pontiac will be coming out with the Solstice as early as next year. which is a little more like an s2000 but will be as low as 20G american.
I saw a Toyota Echo hatchback the other day and it just screamed 4th gen to me.
If you ask me other companies are aware that people love cars like the crx/civic hatch and there is a huge market for updated versions of the cars. I really really want honda to come out with a crx like car, not a pricey car like the s2000. Something cheap like an accent or a echo but with a sporty look and feel, its almost like they can only make them look so nice. GM trys to have cheap sports cars with the sunfires and cavaliers but they have bad fuel economy and realiability, clearly cars geared at taking away from the civic (Ecotec???)
Just trying to get some convo going here as to what sort of cars you would like to see in the future from honda. I know we do plenty of O/T here but would you be interested in say buying a sling shot? Should honda model new cars after the 4gens? What sizes of engines? What sort of price ranges? Thanks!

I think the new Echo hatches are pretty cool, but they need more performance options. I dunno about a Dodge Slingshot, my guess is they wouldn't be worth a shit once they reach a 4th gens age..
Its hard not to love Honda.
It may be old for the $ there's not many compact cars out there that will outperform it, and they're cool as hell. :D
