I have a 1992 olds 88 royale just bought it and was wondering why the rear speakers will not play. It has the factory am/fm cassette player. I have check the connectivity to the rear speakers and they are hooked up, but when i fade to the rear i hear nothing. Just wondering if anyone else has this probelm and if it just might be the radio itself. thx.

the only thing i can think of is either buy new speakers or take out the radio, and check the connection to the back of the radio, unless you've already done that. Or go buy a nice deck and install that with new back speakers. Good Luck!

Don't know if this will be relevant, but....
When I had the original factory radio in my 88, the rear right speaker didn't work at all. When I swapped connections in the back so that the left speaker was hooked to the wires for the right speaker and vice versa, the left speaker stopped working and the right speaker came alive. Replacing the radio worked for me in the end.
If the wires to your dead speakers are getting good continuity, then it's likely one of two things since we now know it isn't the wires.
1) The speakers
2) The radio
What I would do is swipe a pair of speakers from the junkyard for dirt cheap and install those. If those speakers work, then your old speakers were bad and you're all set. If these speakers don't work, then I'd pull the radio.
