Hi,
I am going to remove the 4 speed tranny in my hatch soon.
I was looking at it today and thought instead of having to jack the car way up maybe I could just lift the tranny out with 2 people.
First I take the starter out, axles and everythign are already out.
battery stand and everything is removed already. shift linkage is also already moved. I noticed if I let it drop I will have to remove the radius rod. How hard is it to remove the rod?
But anyways, if I was to have someone support the tranny (without a hoist) and unbolt the tranny to block bolts while having blocks under the block to support it.
First I remove the rear mount then the front, then the side and with to people we should be able to lift it out right?
Or is it better to just jack the car way the hell up and remove the rod and let it drop down?
Thanks
Thanks

When I did my swap I had to drop my DX tranny out of the bottom because I couldn't get the linage off. Just take off the mounts attaching to the tranny (there are 3 of them) and than the engine/tranny will hang down, than just pull it off from there and slip it out the bottom.

Let the engine and trans hang down at an angle with a hoist. Remove the trans and then either support the block with the hoist or use some wood or a jack to hold the engine block while the trans is off.

just gotta slip the tranny around the radius rod. my tranny always hits it when i pull it out from the bottom. never really got in the way though.
