Im looking around for exhausts and I was just wondering what manufacturers make the throatiest, nicest sounding exhaust systems. Or maybe where I can find sound clips of what they sound like. Thanks

Tanabe. I have it one, and it sounds great. Performance is also top notch. Can't ask for anything else.

I love the sound of my GReddy. Throaty is the best way to describe it.

There is no "best sounding" exhaust. Too many people with too many different opinons on what sounds good. :2cents:

I would suggest looking around loacaly, and on local boards and find people and listen to thiers and then you will have a better idea of which one is best for you. Exhaust kits are not cheap so you want to make sure you get the one you want.

Thanks for the advice, but I think of a nice sounding exhaust as deep throaty an a little menacing, but not too loud as Ive heard too many stories about the police pulling you over for an overly loud exhaust. But thanks alot for your input as this is really helping me because I usually hear good things about the exhausts that have been listed, but if anyone else has an opinion on what sounds best, thats all I ask, because I cannot say that your opinion is wrong. Thanks again

hey hey This one is polite GJ you'll learn and lot and get anwsers from quicker. Me my fav is my 5 zigen its loud but great ass tone. RSR is the best quieter exhaust I think. Apexi WS is another great one. GL and thx for being polite.

Thank you once again for your input and I think I narrowed it down to four exhausts. Skunk2, GReddy Evo, Tanabe and 5Zigen. Now is the hard part. Narrowing it down to one lol Ill think about it, but this hepled me alot.

Personally I'd go with the GReddy EVO. it's the only close to stock looking one out of your choices. The Skunk2 (and 5Zigen depending on which model) are both N1 type/style exhausts, and WILl be loud and could get you pulled over. The GReddy has a nice and semi quiet tone, but it's deep and throaty.

But just as an FYI, the A'PEXi World Sport is about $100 LESS than any of those exhausts that you are considering, and that's what I run on my Civic and I'd HIGHLY recommend it. It's very quiet, almost as much as stock, but get's louder when you have the accelerator to the floor. Has a very nice quiet, but deep tone. Definitely won't get you pulled over.

I see what you mean about the APEXi WS, but I think I might like to be heard a little, so Im not sure exactly how quiet quiet really is. But it definately could be an option.

Yea I want to get the skunk2...noone I talk to ever says anything about it. ALTHOUGH Eric (used to be here) said he had the 5 Zigen Fireball and he said the skunk2 was just about as loud except a lower tone. I'm going to give it a go. I mean it's SKunk2 Can't be too bad. lol

Get an intake and you'll be heard. I have a short ram with an A'PEXi filter on the end, and that's what makes all of the noise my engine produces mod wise. Everyone thinks it's my exhaust, but it's all my intake. I've even had it set off car alarms on the street before with it (my intake), LOL! When I had my stock airbox on for a few days over the summer, I almost thought my exhaust had been ripped off me because I couldn't hear it while driving. A quick check to the back of the car, and all was well. I mean it's not NOT hearable like the stock exhaust. But it's just as quiet at normal speeds. Punch the gas and you can hear it more. Also when you're at mid to higher RPMs and you let off the throttle completely, it has a very nice and deep tone as the RPMs wind down. Mine seems to produce the best tone at the 1900 - 3000 RPM range.

No one mentioned the DC Sports System. It is very comparable to the Apexi WS, but the DC is 100% stainless. I love the way mine sounds, its got a deep sounding tone, and looks really nice.

getting a cold air intake will enhance the performance and sound of your exhaust alot. i personally think rsr makes the best exhaust i've heard two hatch backs with them it just sounds killer. they are expensive though

I never knew that! But what company makes you short ram, because you make it sound so good lol But I think now its a battle between the Skunk2, GReddy Evo, Thermal, and Magnaflow. So hard to make my list any smaller :banghead: , but I think Ill ask some ppl I know that have exahsuts to hear theirs and ask their opinion also. Thanks to the max!

It's actually an APC short ram pipe (I bought it originally as a full intake kit that included a filter back some 3 years ago) and then early last year, replaced the filter which was getting dirty, with a much better and reusable A'PEXi dual cone power filter. The filter that's used is what really makes the differance on how and what an intake will sound like I found out. Some are louder and throatier than others while, some just make a constant whooshing sound. My A'PEXi filter doesn't whoosh so much, but it's a bit louder than the APC filter that came with the kit originally.

Just as an FYI, you can't normally buy A'PEXi filters seperate, I bought mine from a former member off here named "Drift" who had the filter on his turbo Prelude for about 2 months before removing the turbo system when he moved to another state from where he lived. A full A'PEXi intake kit (includes the filter) retails for around $180.

I just got an Invidia exhaust and it sounds greaty. Nice and deep. Power gains were also noticable. Invidia is expensive but deffinetly worth the money.

I've never heard an HKS system that sounded good. Most sound pretty ricey and/or buzzy, but they are supposed to have the best power gains of most systems out there. Usually the more power gain systems have a more ricey sound. But just because an exhaust sounds ricey, DOES NOT mean that it has better power gains than another quieter system.

i have had my hks hi power exhaust for almost a year and i love it. it does not buzz or sound raspy at all. i wouldn't still have it if it did. i got rid of my skunk2 because it was too loud, you couldn't even hear the engine because the exhaust was so loud.

you guys need to put flowmasters on your ricers so you dont sound like a fart going down the road. The sound your cars make is not very intimidating, it is kinda silly.

Last time I checked, no inline 4 motor could sound like an American muscle V8, or even remotely close to one NO MATTER the exhaust put on it. Even a Neon would sound the same as a Honda if both were equipped with Flowmasters. Learn something about cars before flapping off about crap that no one on here really cares even one second about. :loser:

learn something about cars? WOW, that is a lot coming from a ricer boy.

lol I love how valid of a remark that is. 'ricer boy' It's like he's trying to act like SilverY2KCivic doesn't know what he's talking about yet, he can't correct anything against what he's saying. I really wish someone would take care of this guy because all 3 of his posts have been negative.

People like him won't get very far in life, THAT much I can guarantee you. He's just butt hurt because he drives a Ranger which ISN'T a real truck, LMAO!

Consider him taken care of since obviously he doesn't know much, if anything about cars, thinks anyone with an import is a "ricer" and has to get kicks trolling around Honda forums by spewing out pure garbage that's UNrelated to the forum he's in. No loss there though. :loser:
