Question on shocks and weather

I was wondering if anyone knew if weather can affect shocks? My car was working great until last week. Temperature dipped below zero last week, while driving to work I was hearing a loud thump on every bump. Figured great need shocks, would deal with it as soon as I could. Anyway after a couple of days of single digit temps., this past weekend weather warmed up. Drove the car and was working fine again. No thumps or anything on bumps.

Any chance you had snow/ice build-up in the wheel wells? That can make some interesting noises

Had the same prob with a 2000 GA took them in and the dealer said they were ok.
