We all would like to dream big, but in the end all we can really hope for it to be truly content with life.
That is, to be genuinely happy with the cards of life that we have been given and have an absense of want or desire for anything more.
Consider Bill Gates. He can have and does have more than anything else in the world, as least those tangible things money represents. However, he is not truly happy. If he was, he would not be still working the way he does.

I just want to be your average joe...who can live everyday to the fullest and be happy and contented with what they have. Its more happiness that counts for me, with a little extra cash to spare.

Unless working the way he does is what truly makes B gates happy.

only thing that could make my life more ideal at the moment is more money.
I have a great life and some great friends. what else could I ask for.

I think it would be fun to become a snowboard bum after college. Maybe save up some money and travel around living in my car going to different ski resorts and snowboarding. Hmmm... i bet it would be even better in Europe. I really like that ski town atmosphere and I don't think I could ever get tired of snowboarding.
But I wouldn't do that forever, eventually I'd get a real job and start focusing on $$$ and my future.

I would like to meet the girl I can spend the rest of my life with. Then become wealthy and have a small family. Maximum of two kids. And live a long healthy life and be alive long enough to see grandchildren.
But at this point the only thing I can see that would make me happiest and make nothing else matter would be to meet that girl.

I know it's a little early to worry about this (I'm 21), but I'm anxious to meet a girl who I can totally connect with. This whole soulmate thing is crazy and I know nothing about it, and then there's that little thing called fate. And right now, I cant even IMAGINE marrying anyone. DAMN...marriage...loving one person for the rest of your life...that's crazy, man. :eek7: I live fucking huge city, and meeting the right person will take alot of time. Who knows, it might take 5, 10, 15 years till I meet this person.
Is this my 300th post? If it is, YAY! I haven't been banned yet! :boink:  :nutkick:

I know exactly what you mean. it's one of the reasons why I left this place about a year ago. I was just fully going through shit, and was really wound up about finding someone.
what I have learned is that it was the last thing I should have been stressing over. it'll happen, worrying about it will probably actually stop it from happening.
I just hung out with mates, went to parties and stuff like that. ended up dating about 4-5 people over this last year. Thats more than the rest of my life
so don't stress over it. best thing anyone can do is just make sure they are having fun.

I cannot wish for that which does not exist. Idealism is never a certainty with any life, whether it be someone who is extremely wealthy or someone who works a blue-collar job, there will always be things that you never wanted.

To experience all that life offers me. Fairly hedonistic of course, but what else truly matters? To keep partying like a nutter, enjoying all the things I currently enjoy with someone special by my side and I'm pretty happy. Some kind of career would be a bonus, but that is not the core value.

Yeah, I'm not good enough to get anything significant and there's a lot of presure in something like that, doing contests and stuff and then risking your neck whenever someone tells you to. I think becoming a ski patroller of instructor wouldn't be that bad though.

Turn by moving your back leg and leaning towards the way you want to go. And don't go on runs that are too steep so you can't turn and just stay on one edge the whole time. Other than that, just practice turning until you can go on harder and harder runs.
Where are you going to go? Does the Chicago area have good snow around this time because I know a lot of people from there go west.

Go skiing! :evillol:
Watch the chair as it comes up to your ass - not ahead. Ride the TBar is if you're boarding UP the mountain. It is not a seated lift. Stay in control at all times. Stay on your edges as much as possible. Put more turns in as opposed to less. Avoid downhill objects.

Thanks for the advice, mike, you too Oz, I'll keep the chair lift thing in mind. You're probably going to think I'm crazy, Oz, but skiing has never really appealed to me, on snow or on water. And to answer your question mike, I don't live in Chi-town anymore, I live in north carolina, so I'm heading up to Winterplace, west virginia.

i would like to write many books and make several movies, i consider myself very funny and intelligent, so i would like to combine the two, like writing books about science and government and philosophy and make comedic and serious movies................ and in the end what i want out of life is:
A NOBEL PRIZE, and how about a house in costa rica on the beach, with as many cars with the best systems, and a really hott wife, and 3 kids....
how does that sound?

My ideal life is the one I'm living. I'm a Catholic priest. This evening I met with two couples getting ready for marriage, and it brought me great fulfillment to help them realize how much they themselves wanted to change and grow in preparation for the married life. When you talk about the different things you can do in between birth and death, the different ways we all try to do something which rises above the pursuit of "more stuff," I can't think of anything more satisfying than assisting others in thinking more coherently and perceiving more clearly the ultimate purpose of their existence. Aristotle says that happiness is what we all desire. Much of my work is to encourage people to get off their duff and to seek happiness in earnest. I'm 28 years old, and I have everything I want in life. :ylsuper:

If you guys did get everything you wanted, would you be contempt with it or would you just want more and more? at what point do you start enjoying what you have and stop living a life wishing you had what you dont. My Ideal life would be one in which I would be able to be contempt and happy with what I have. Not wanting to obtain things that are out of my grasp and to want what I have. It will take time to recondition my state of mind, that has been programed by society to want what I cant have and envey those that have it. Unless you do you will never be fulfiled, you will always be left wanting more and nothing will ever fill your wants.
