i own a 2000 gmc sierra with the 5.3 liter. i was wondering what it redlines at? my cluster doesnt show it. but i bought idiglo gauges and they show redline at 5500rpm. so i just wanted to figure out what the redline is. i have my hypertech set where it runs my gears up to 6000rpms b4 it shift. and i think maybe that might not be a good idea.

I personally think the redline differs with the motor size. I don't think it will hurt your truck to keep the shift points at 6000. I have mine set at 5800, but I think I would step up to 6000 if I had the 5.3L. You could always install the corvette z06 cam and ls6 springs and raise the shift points well over 6000rpm. Alot of people have been getting great results with changing the cams out in these trucks. That's definately where a good tune would come in.

cams were a plan down the road if i decided to keep doing mods to my truck. but once again money becomes an isue. so it would be safe to keep running 6000 rpms becuase i dont want my truck to blow up.
