Just wanted to say Hi to everyone. These types of forums are just fantastic. I just finished another "project" with the assistance of a similar forum for high performance boats (thus the user name Baja Scott)
Boat of the the month in October and "Pick of the litter award" a our third gathering in Kentucky this year. I ended up here after a search for info on replacing the oil pump in my 99 Dakota (post is somewhere?)
Anyway I hope I can help as well as get some help! :uhoh:
My best to everyone!

Thanks for the welcome!
I did get the oil pump changed on my Dakota. Twas a real pain and I can see the $800+ the dealer wanted for the job. It seems to have fixed the problem although the PSI still seems low after it gets to running temp. 40psi, a bit less. I hate electrical sending units/gauges for a mechanical function. Were I to keep the truck forever and ever amen, I would switch to a mechanical gauge. 55K sure seems early to have had to do this. I did find ALOT of junk in the bottom of the pan and although not plugged, the screen did gave a consideralbe amt. of this junk in it. I saved some, may take it to our lab to see just what it is.
Thanks again!
