arn't there struts in the front? those springs can be cut too. i knew someone who had a first gen civic with the springs cut so far that they were loose when not under load. but going that far is not advisable.

Wow...

The front has torsion bars.
If you want to lower it you can adjust a nut on each side to lower about an inch. Anymore and you will have to mod the torsion bars.

Then the back...
You can put springs in from the first gen wagon to get about an inch drop. When you loser the back you will have to install or fabricate an adjustable panhard bar.

Best bet:
Coil-overs in the back with adjustable panhard bar.
Mod the from torsion bars and drop one notch.

If you get under the car you will see the torsion springs. They are in a tube about 24" long and about 2" in diameter. At the end furthest from the engine there will be a cap bolted to the side of the subframe. From this cap follow the tube towards the crossmember (towards the engine). Just before you reach the crossmsmber you will find an arm about 4" long attached to the tube (pointed towards the tube on the other side of the car). This arm will have a nut at the end of it. This is the height adjustment nut!! There is one on each spring and if I remember correctly, this is a 17mm nut.

Do not confuse this nut with the bolts that hold the crossmember in!

Sorry to bring back an old thread!
