V6 question: going from auto to stickshift?

Hello, this question pertains to putting a V6 from an automatic truck (2000) into a stickshift truck (1999).

Question: Will there be any shimmy/vibration if I just bolt the stick flywheel in place of the automatic flexplate? I found a low-mile 2000 Tacoma V6/auto assembly and would like to use the low-mile engine in my 1999 Tacoma truck which has a stick tranny. I'd rather not take the engine apart to re-balance, or I may as well hold out for an engine from a stick truck.

So what's the verdict?

Bad news for ya pal. I have heard that the manual trans equipped motors have a completely different output shaft and will not work with an auto trans without major work. Other than that all the accessories are the same. Check with Off Road Solutions out of Denver. They are probably the best source for swap info.

Hmmm... I wonder if that's just a simple case of the crank needing to be drilled for a pilot bushing or something? Anyone else know?

My 97 tacoma is auto and u dont want to go to manual cuz i kill other manual tacoma's......i really kill 1 out the line man so if i was you i would stick with the auto...

That's funny, I test drove a V6 auto truck and it was kind of doggy I thought. But whether or not that is the case, I prefer stick greatly on this truck. It's my work truck, not a race car.
