Cheater Nitrous

was thinkin about puttin the cheater-zex-air filter-nitrous kit on my car, if for not other reason than to reduce the intake charge temp. little extra power too, although i'm a little nervous about it being a dry kit (lean). thoughts?

for those not familiar with my plan, it's a 408W, twin screw blower, t-56

What, you don't think a 408 with a blower is enough power? :screwy:

StangNut86,

Hiflow hit the nail on the head. You are going to have enough problems with the torque, why add more.

One other thing I want to add. I hope your planning on spending the same amount of time and money on getting that power to the ground as you did with the motor, or else it's all a wasted effort IMO.

I want to play "Spin the Tires" :)

eh, just worried about detonation from an excessively hot intake charge, that's all.

and, i know all too well how much i need to spend to get that power to the ground, and the motor won't even go in until i have the suspension set up right.

Aftercooler, timing, and water/alch will do the same thing, and cheaper in the long run.

Are you going to be running an aftercooler? Air/Air, or Water/Air?

my only consern is if that t-56 will hold up...

T-56 is a damn good tranny.

Any tranny is only going to hold up so long, depening on your driving style and the amount of abuse you put through it.

oh, i know, its a great tranny, don't get me wrong. but i'm just saying: a build 408 with a blower lets say 500-550hp/ plus the 400hp from the N20. 900-1000 hp. i SERIOUSLY doubt it can handle that much..

He said cooling effect, not run the engine on the edge of oblivion:)

after/intercooling is not possible with the blower kit i have in mind. you can find it on kennebell.net, under the 5.0 Mustang blowzilla/flowzilla kit. the gt-40 one, being the reason i wanted a gt-40 lower. according to the manufacturer, a cooler is not needed due to the already reduced intake temp over centrifugal/roots style blowers. however, i'm just a little concerned about detonation. probably won't be a problem, tho.

i'm actually more concerned about detonation BEFORE i put the blower on, while i'm learning to drive it/saving money. i'll have it N/A till then. is there a method to dilute gas for low compression motors? we're talking about 7:1.

eh, just worried about detonation from an excessively hot intake charge, that's all.

 And what, you think nitrous is going to make that any better? If nitrous warded off detonation, why do you need to pull out timing for nitrous? Why do you need to run higher octane gas for nitrous? Why do you need to run colder plugs for nitrous? It's because nitrous increases cylinder pressure and will only add to your detonation problem if you have one. Also, don't run a twin screw blower on a 408. The KB kits ARE NOT BIG ENOUGH TO FEED THE MOTOR! That car is also going to be fairly undriveable with a 6-speed and that much torque. I saw a guy dynoing his 408 + KB combo with a TKO, he had the KB2200, with a custom pulley that was smaller than what KB sells, he was overspinning the blower quite a bit @ 6000, guess what the results were? At 2500 RPM's it made 890 ft-lbs of torque to the wheels, with 11 pounds of boost. By redline it dropped of to around 6 and he barely went above 500 RWHP. In short, the car would do nothing but spin the tires, died on the top end, and wasn't that fast for how much money he put into. You'd go way, way faster with a centrifugal on there, and have a much better street car too.

Yep, its all about the whole combo. There is no way I would be building what you are planning. Its just my opinion.

i get the point

hiflow, if you would be so kind as to close this thread, thanks.
