Hi,
I bought a 96 MAXIMA and i love it. Today I had gone for Title but it got failed .. reason: The License plate lights.. Can anyone please help me to find out the problem as the inspection guy said it may be the fuse problem. I know the fuse box in engine compartment and i opened that too but how to take out that fuse. Do we have fuse pullar in maxima somewhere??? And if anyone knows which fuse to check or what to check or i have to change the bulb??? I would appriciate a early help as i wanna go for inspection tommorow again and get this thing done right...

it's most likely just the bulbs, you have to get down on the ground but I think its just 1 or 2 phillips screws.

No Sh!t! That would suck! Glad I don't have to deal with that anymore. The state of Florida stopped the inspection process on cars 5-6 years ago! It's bad enough waiting in line at the DMV!

change out your license plate bulbs (might as well change them since you have to check them anyway). As fas as pulling fuses, i use a pair of needle nose pliers...you can get a fuse puller at the dealership or your local part store..

I doubt it is a fuse. On the very similar '95 model, the license plate light is in the same circuit as the tail lights and rear side markers. If they are lit (you surely would have failed inspection if they weren't), then the fuse is okay. Definitely check the bulbs.

Just in case you need to find it, the fuse panel for these lights is not underhood, but is located on the lower side of the dashboard to the left of the steering wheel. On the '95, this fuse is #5, rated for 7.5 amp. There should also be a small white fuse puller mounted on the right side of the panel although it gets lost easily.
