We purchased a 2003 Maxima with Bridgestone Turanza EL42 P215/55-R17 tires.
These tires suck in snow. I have decided to replace them and I'm having a tough time finding the size, and when I do the ratings are lousy.
Anyone know of a good snow tire for this car?
If your looking: I replaced the tires on my 95 Maxima with Michelin Hydroedge and so far I am impressed! Was good on dry, and rainy roads earlier in the year, and have been great in the snow! Driven through 6" deep, unplowed roads with little slippage.
Very nice tire.

good all around season (i heard it was good) is the continental contiextreme contact. i plan putting them all around in a few months. i heard they were the best in wet and snow. i too have to deal with bad snow (cleveland, oh). they are cheap too. good luck

I've done really well in the snow with my Falken Ziex 512's(knock on wood). I have never felt unstable.

I'm going tomorrow to get Continental Contiextreme Contact's put on. There is a 215/50 available that will give a larger gap between tire and wheel well and hopefully let the snow release better.
This is the tire I was going to put on our '95 Maxima until I found the Michelin Hydroedge.
Thanks for the replies!

I have Michelin Pilot Sport A/S in the same size, and they don't allow snow to release very well at all. If it snows a lot, you are going to have to go through the wash to clean all the snow out from between the feneders and the tires, or you will get this wicked jarring on the highway.
