Wiper arm fix?

Hello!
Living in Seattle one understands the importance of windshield wipers! My roommate and I replaced the wiper blades on her Subaru and in all likelihood tweaked the driver side wiper arm enough that it now has free play. I'm assuming that there's a plastic washer involved that may have gotten cracked but what I'm wanting to know is how easy is it to repair - meaning, is it really tough to look at the inner workings? I remember how difficult it was for me to repair wiper arms on an old Dodge and that required crawling under the dashboard. Any help would be greatly appreciated - if I can make the fix then she would be able to make the drive home safely tonight, otherwise I'll have to put one of those really big flashing "follow me" signs on my car so she can follow me :)
Thank you all in advance!
