Should I put white rims on a bright blue cavalier?
i've been thinking of getting some new rims for my 1994 cavy. currently it's a sky blue. soon i'll be getting a body kit and new paint scheme in a slightly brighter blue...The interior (if i ever get around to it) will be blue and white...
some people have told me it will look good but a friend, who holds a high place in a local car club tells me don't do it, to get either gunmetal or chrome rims. I'm looking for opinions....here's a pic of the car in it's current state (pre-mod)

with a light blue, chrome, if thats the other option. i think it would look definatey look best. White rims would look good on a darker car, or a white car, but not light blue IMO

the new paint scheme will be mostly a darker blue, but nowhere close to navy, more brighter

i was commenting to someone the other day how close my current rims are to white, they wouldn't seem like such a drastic change. everyone keeps telling me it's my car, my decision about what i want done to it, but im worried that it'll look bad

I got some Enkie 17" gunmetal 7 spokes for sale. They would go good w/ an electric/true blue.

nucleus, the link u posted in ur reply doesn't work, but i found what u must've been trying to link to, thx anyway

there's an electric blue eclipse that travels around the city i live in and he has 17" white rims on it, looks very good. i have spoken with him several times and he's even offered to sell them to me (with tires) for $800. i think i have decided to go with the white rims, even tho everyone keeps warning me they need to b cleaned everyday...oh well, the things we sacrifice to look good... :icon16:

angel_iz378 , sorry about the link. White rims will nice w/ electric blue. Anyway, if you want anything nice, you have to keep it clean regardless, chrome.alloy, paint, whatever. Good luck.

I have an 02 red cavalier with 17" white MR7's on it. they are a pain to keep clean but they do look nice with the rest of the modifications i have. My body kit, window tinting with red reflective fading to black, aftermarket spoiler and eurotails. the rims really set everything off.

I graduated from Iowa State as a design major and I think white rims would look really nice given that the blue is really deep, also if you go with white rims you should consider low profile tires i.e. thin tires. It's your car if you thinkit looks good that's all that matters!

If you have access to a compressor you can always paint the rims if you change your mind later on unless you start with chrome. Use a flex agent and you should have no trouble. We used to paint rims fairly often when that was the style. In the 70's it was common to paint stock rims body color and top it off with chrome lugs, a "beauty ring" and a center cap or knock off. But I think white would be fine. It has to make you happy anyway. If I don't like it I can go buy my own car. Have fun.
