"American" cars are getting better

From the looks of it the "American" cars are getting better. The reason for the " " on American is because I cant keep up on where some of these cars are being made. But, most people are still going with GM, Ford, and Dodge as THE American line up.
Anyway, from the looks of the new line up from the big three. They seem to have put some of the focus back into HP :naughty: I am a GM guy to the bone. I almost hate to say this :banghead: BUT Dodge has my vote for for the all around HP for the 2004 line up. Yes, GM is getting there. The thing I see is Dodge has put it out there NOW as in first. Whith GM working on getting the new HP toy's out in 2nd place. So, now ford is in 3rd and playin catch up. Yet, still showing a good hand for the 2005 line.
All and all I would say the big three have woke up and started back in with flexing some real muscle :naughty: I would also like to add most of this flexing is being done without the help of turbos or superchargers. Back to old school raw HP :evillol:
Not thats there is anything wrong with turbo or sc for getting power. I just think it's cool seeing good HP #'s NA. This way the aftermarkert has some real room to play and push some killer HP #'s with some bolt on's.
Anyway, thats the way I see it :naughty: :2cents:

All three have strong cars in their lineup's, but Dodge seems to win the hp war in 04. The SRT-4, SRT-10, and Ram SRT-10 being basically the most powerful of the domestics in their class. I wish GM would bring back the camaro though...

One thing I have noticed in recent years from "American" autos is the styling. The foreign car styling seems to be getting rather bland at best. I haven't seen a lot of imagination coming from Japan or Europe. I like a lot of the American retro autos comming out lately. What's happened to the designers in the other countries? Have they all fallen asleep?
As far a power goes I will have to go with Dodge. Although there are some very respectable contenders in the both Chevy and Fords line up.

GM just needs to get the enthusiasm back like Buick had in the mid-late 80's. When they really cared about making a great car. I think they are getting some of this energy back, after seeing the imports sneak up and take them by surprise.

I was in now way saying bad things about them. Only that I am looking at the 04 line as a whole. The way I understand it.... The new retro stang is set for 05 & They are building so few GT and the cost :eek7:

GM is working on it IMO. Only, IMO they are close with ford with the big GM players for 05. The only thing I see putting them in 2nd for 04 is the SSR. But I have mixed feelings on the SSR. It gives me that Prowler taste. :uhoh:

It seems that MOPAR is the place for modern horsepower. I mean, they have a 500 bhp Viper and Ram, and they are putting the Hemi into everything. Even the Neon STR is fast!

Actually the cost of the new GT is considerably less than anything that is close to comparable. I think it was Car and Driver that said the closest thing to it would cost around $650,000.00. I could be off a little on that price tag but I don't think I am.
Edit: Here is the article...http://www.caranddriver.com/article.asp?section_id=15&article_id=7565&page_number=1

With it's performance levels in all catagories I am a little suprised it is only going for around $150,000.00.
This has to piss off European auto makers. Hopefully they will sell well.

well they are the cars Ford set out to beat, and compared to the corvette and viper, the Ford, is an 'american exotic' not just an american sports car, which the corvette and vipers are.

Actually it looks like a deal sitting next to any european exotic until you get to the $650,000 price range. It out performs them and sells for less. I would say that says a lot.

I give the utmost credit to the American car makers for reviving the HP war and giving us the power that we wanted all along but it would be even nicer if the would give us the handeling to go with it. There is not a single car made in America that can match the Evo in the slolom and few that can match it's .97g on the skidpad, and none of those come near it's pricerange. Overall good job guys (especaly Mopar) but you still have a little work to do before you totaly whoop the Japs. I don't think that it will be long before stuff like the Corvetts (optional) in-cab adjustable suspension system, become commonplace and that will really put the squeeze on the import market. Now if we can just beat Honda to the first mass produced Carbon Fiber chassies, I think that America will have it's long awaited lead in overall proformance.

It is good to see Detroit in a good old fashion horsepower war. Too bad it is mainly limited to trucks. Lets see what MOPAR's Hemi-powered cars due to the marketplace.

The Chrysler 300 looks awesome. I saw one at an autoshow, but really couldn't get anywhere near it. The 300 Convertible concept was there too, now theres some power for ya.
And whats the big deal with massive truck engines? I just dont see the point in dragracing off the stoplight with a pickup. PUT THE ENGINES IN THE CARS!!!#$%^&*(

I would have to say Ford is up there with horsepower. They have the SVT Corba 390hp, Lighting 380hp, the Merc. Maruder 302hp. I have read there is a Maruder w/425hp at the rear wheels called the Vt package, I don't know if this is true. The mustang Mach1 has 305hp this year and the Ford GT has 550hp. As for the Mazda thing will Ford owns them not the other way around unlike dymler.

Well actually, the new C6 on paper may not match that, but it has been proven by Top Gear that it is far superior to the Evolution 8 and the STI. In fact, it beat the FQ320 and the STI WR1 on a track that is made for handling. (Both cars that are around 45k) Things are turning around finally. The new Mustang should be able to outhandle anything sold in America under the Evolution and the STI (Both are 5-6k more mind you) and that damned Neon. Ford claims that the next SVT will be on the same level of the Z06, which is a level far beyond the Evolution, for under 40k. They made good on their promise with the Ford GT and with the Mustang GT, so I have faith that things are turning around. On top of that, I have no doubt that this will push the next Camaro (If it really is being built) to be built to match. I think American companies are finally getting out of the straight line only mentality. It was a good era, but it's time to move on.

Toyota does not own GMC and GMC does not own Toyota. They just traded some cars, Chevy got the Metro and Toyota got the cavalier (lose-lose situation lol j/k) Probe is Ford and mx-6 is a mazda. They both use mazda engines though. Mazda makes mazda engines and for the most part, ford makes ford engines. Ford had a lot to do with the new RX-8 engine. Mopar is still around. Have you not seen the MOPAR drift viper? Do you have any clue what your saying? Probably not cause you can't even type Diamler-Chrysler.
