Thanks for the input, however I discovered the problem after reading the many threads on this particular problem as related to fuel pump replacements etc. Heres the deal!! After purchasing a fuel pressure test guage I discovered I only had 18 psi at the shrader valve. This of course is not enough for the Vortec to run on. This left me with the conclusion that either the new pump was not creating it's intended pressure, or it was, and I was sold the wrong fuel pump at the parts store. I suspected the later after thinking about the careless attitude the counter person displayed and his unwillingness to believe that my vehicle had a fuel pump relay. Which he found once I pointed out that he was looking for a fuel injector relay for which there was not a listing. What a pain in my you no what. 7/8 of a 27 gallon tank drained twice, everything else done twice to the tune of about 8 hrs of nasty work. All because he would not listen when I told him I had a Vortec motor with the W vin code. In the end I bought a top quality fuel pump from another store which produced 62 psi static pressure on cut off. I bled the lines and she started right up. I should have known better and suspected a posibility of a careless error rather than trust someone who did not ask the right questions. I hope this helps somone out out there avoid this kind of problem.
