2002 Z

The new Z is less than 2 months away, its going to be released to the Automotive Media on Jan 8th... Who's going to Detroit ?? :D And what are you're expectaions of the NEW Z.

Wasn't nissan supposed to show that already?

I'm really excited for it. The Japanese market for sports cars in america is finally coming back with the Skyline, the new Z, a fresh NSX, and...plans for a new Supra. I can't wait for the RX-EVOLV either.

I wouldn't call the Skyline a sports car. It is more of a sports sedan. It isn't exactly in the same category as the Z or the NSX.

Do you'all really think the new Z will fly? Consider the fact that most of the new sports car offerings have been roadsters or the fact that most of the newer ones start at around $20,000 (except the S2000).

I'm trying to remain optomistic, but I wouldn't pay $30,000 for the concepts I have seen. I think that they are all ugly. Please, I am not trying to start a flame war, just stating what I think. I will, however, keep an open mind until I see the real thing!

What are your thoughts?

I think you can have cameras at the auto shows. But even if you can't, you can try sneeking it in; there's nothing they could do to you even if they find out ;)
They might confiscate the camera 'till you leave. But they'll have to give it back to you.
There's nothing to lose, but a lot to gain. Try it if you're going to the show. Don't forget to tell us what happened. :)

Dont worry I go to NEW YORK and Detroit every year (almost) and i'll get prime pictures of the Z, and all the other great cars. Cause cameras of all sorts are allowed.

But consider this, the Silvia is being sold in Japan for 20K, it's 2.L Turbo 6.1s 0-60 (250HP). The Z will be nearly 10K more, how much more performance will you get, plus how hard will Nissan work to ensure of its quality and design?

Nissan just reserved the domain name 350Z.com so it is a sure bet that the new Zed will have the 3.5 liter engine.

IT IS A FAKE! Magazines try to sell their publication by putting all forms of shit in the cover!! The Z looks a lot better than that!!

Can you offer any proof that the photo above is not going to be the new Z? Can you show us this "better" alternative you mention?

carman posted a PHOTOGRAPH from a respectable Car Mag in Japan. You posted a 1 year old DRAWING.
and actually, if you look at it closely, you may even think it's the same car! the photo shows the front of the car while the drawing you posted shows the back. :)

I have to go with IGOR on this one. Those photos are old. I know that the rear quarter shot was the teaser that Nissan unveiled at the Zed convention in Vegas earlier this year. Have you considered that both of you may be right?

I guess we will just have to wait for another month to find out the answer.

OK, they are old, but there was a larger sketch released which looks more like the sketch that i posted. The sketch is only 5 months old...:D

where did you find that out?
i mean not like how you figured out that nissan registered the domain but how did you find out that that the domain was registered at all? did you just type in 350z.com ? or did you hear about the domain from somewhere else?

It was posted up on twinturbo.net. They also reserved the .net and .org versions.

well thnx for the comment but actually that was my first try with cars on photoshop i mostly do websites but it was fun to try and change stuff on that car. my new stuff is on the 3rd page in that photoshop contest thats goin on in this site, thnx again, peace

The photoshop work is good, but I personally don't like your interpretation of the front grill and the rear tail lights. The Z should definitely not resemble the Skyline.:)

I'm sorry but if you consider a $120.000 400hp all wheel drive Nissan Skyline GTR a sedan that isn't in the same catagory as a Z or NSX then show me one of thoses cars beat a skyline in a road race!!! I remember reading an article about the 01 cobra R and it said supercharge it and now your into SKYLINE territory now would you call a Cobra R a sedan I think not. I apoligise for being harsh but the Skyline is my all time favorite dream car it may not be the best just don't whatever you call it a sedan!
