Can the Temp sensor interlock ignition ??

I am beating my head against a wall here, I have a 1990 Eclipse that will not spark or squirt. I recall seeing a broken temp probe near the thermostat, wires not attached, can that keep me from sparking and squirting? Normally I would not think so, but I was rereading my Haynes manual for the umteenth time, I see that is mentioned in the input signals category, and I wonder if it was engineered into the scheme as something that matters. I am trying to Superbowl and can't relax due to this car kicking my butt.

i'm not an expert on the 1st gen cars but i would also suggest you check the CAS (cam angle sensor) i know that can be a big one that will not allow the car to start due to no spark or fuel!

Yes if if spark and fuel are both missing, the CAS is the number 1 suspect. The temp sensor signal is not an interlock for the ignition/fuel system.

Do you know of a way to test CAS? I have turned mine in hand with ignition key on, listening for a series of pops. I never heard that so I assumed failure, purchased a junk yard replacement, and checked it with the same results. The previous owner installed an Ebay bought Computer, I don't know how to tell if it is right for the car, but I only suspect it because I cannot retrieve engine problem codes. My fuel pump is working, and that has been mentioned as an indicator that my Computer is alright. Car won't start- I am tired of walking to work, this has gone on too long.

Does the pump kick on when you turn the cas by hand? Its not uncommon to have the injector drivers, or ignition drivers, in the ECU to go bad. If nohting at all happens when you turn the CAS I wouls suspect the cas. If only one or two of the 3 things you should see (spark trigger, injector trigger, and pump prime) happen, then I would suspect the ECU.

I hear nothing at all when I turn the CAS in hand, with key on. But I am on my 2nd CAS, with the same results, so either coincidence, or maybe my Ebay purchased Computer is not telling anything to react to the position of the crank sensor.??? I have fuel pressure, at the rail, not necessarily due to the positioning of the CAS. I am almost ready to trade both cars for a Honda.

The ignition/injector drivers in the ECU could be bad. It happens. Try another ECU, if that doesnt do it I dont know.

And you checked the MPI fuse right? The one on the battery...
