Serious advice or encouragement only please. This is difficult enough as is.

i feel sorry for you. i also hope that your family and friends are ok with this. just tell people, and make sure that it doesnt change anything. i am not gay myself, but if i was, i would say something like this: "I have been gay my whole life and this does not change anything. Just think about it, you know who I am. Now that i want to tell everyone that I am gay, this does not change me as an individual. You were a friend before you knew I was gay, why would you change your mind now?"
something like that....once again, I am sorry that you are like that. I hope that you are ok with it.

When I took that picture of my study desk and had to cover up for the pictures you all saw lying on my printer it made me ashamed I felt I had to cover for it.

I shouldn't have to make excuses like that. I have nothing to hide anymore.

Thanks kitted.

You just gotta tell everyone flat out, if they don't like it, they aren't good people anyway. I'm sure it'll be awkward for awhile, but eventually people will get over it, and everything will be back to normal.

Sorry but i couldnt resist

that's fucked up... :screwy: :nono:

If you are really worried and nervous, what I would do is rent six feet under and watch it with the family. It's a really good HBO series and it has a gay couple in there, it's not the central theme but just a side story, and it definetly makes you more open to homosexuals. Then maybe you could tell your family after watching that series??? I used to be a homophobe before, but after watching six feet under, I can now say I'm not and educate others.

Besides in this day and age it's not a big deal at all. At my work we have around 3-4 gay guys, but we all get along with them and treat them like everyone else. When people are more mature they really don't care, you are what you are and there's nothing wrong with being gay.

I gotta tell you. This is easier than I thought it would be.

Thanks for being sensitive about it all.

Hyatus - what part of "serious encouragement or advice only" did you not understand? have some fucking decency next time or you will be taking a vacation.

Porsche - good luck. there is nothing wrong with it, but there are some people out there who think there is and who will act that way towards you. no matter who you are or what you do/like, just know that your family and friends will always love you for who you are, and being gay won't make them change their minds.

Damien
02-01-2004, 06:02 PM
Wow...well for me on my own perspective, I have no problem with it. I know there are some out there who hate it, but like PB137 said, it's common now. DOn't be scared man, just keep being yourself and obviously this is who you are so, if people change how they view you, then now you know who your true friends are. I wish ya the best of luck

Just lay it flat out, like any other "big" information you give your friends and family, you just gotta be forward. Just remember straight isn't "normal", its just the majority so don't let people make you feel weird, its just a decision of life like any other one.

Everyone's got it on the money, just be honest with em man.

I have a really good friend who came out to most of his friends a few years ago...yet he still hasn't told his parents, lol.

Good luck bro, AF still loves you.

Be strong man, Tell your friends and the people you care about and they should be fine with it, it might be a little rocky for a bit but they should come around.

It's times like this when you find out who your true friends are.

Good luck man and keep your head up.

It doesn’t change who you are as a person. You’re the same old Porsche to us! :D

Good luck with telling the people you know. If they are true friends then they will love you unconditionally. :)

Well Porsche, congratulations....i believe the hardest thing to do is admit it too urself.....I have a very good friend who is gay....he found it hard going to his family because of his background.....but he said it was the best thing he has ever done.....he can now get on with his life and b his true self...if people love u ur sexual orientation shouldnt matter to them...best of luck and like everyone else has said let us know how u get on

My first thought is to make sure the door is open so you don't stub your toe on it. Beyond that, breaking news like that is going to depend on the person getting it. Be firm and forthright and those that care for you will understand. They may be surprised or more but give them a chance - they haven't put the time thinking about this as you have.

jon@af
02-01-2004, 08:50 PM
Honestly man, I think anyone who has the courage to come out with it is one hell of a strong person. Doesn't bother me a bit, and shouldn't bother you. All you need to know is that you are happy with yourself and even if family members are disappointed, that they still love you. You've got support here no matter what.

Damien
02-01-2004, 09:04 PM
Yeah..too add on. You have like the upmost courage to announce this. I've had some stuff to say before but it doesn't amount to this. My new one might but that's not this...:p...Naw, for real, just do as Yogs said, make sure the door is open. Also, it's peace to experiment as most would say but don't go back ya know. Don't say it then if people change views don't go back and say you were only "experimenting". Just my 2 cents...actually 4 now. Stay you Porsche. You're peace with us here at AF.

Oz

Hard times, matey. My suggestion would be pick and choose who you tell first, second, third and so on. Top of the list should be those you feel closest to. Those who will love you, support encourage and be there for you. Work outwards from there. :)

Jimster
02-01-2004, 09:28 PM
Man, can't balme yourself for what turns you on, well in practice you can't, don't be ashamed, you are who you are, you'd be a fool to play the pretending game.

Give people an ultimatum, live with it or fuck off.

Ok... this is a situation that you're worried about.. See I'm kinda homophobic.. like be whatever you want but don't involve me ya know.

Look broh I've been around a long long year (18 on friday woot) and all I know is that you are who you are regardless of gender, sexual preference, skin color or anything else. Would they hate you if you were black? I don't think so.

Being gay, though a shocker to some, is something that will be looked over. You're a great guy, gay or not. So take what I said. I'm not all like gay rights and what not but I still accept you and you'll still be my friend... well in an internet sense.. we aren't kickin back with some beer watchin the game, but you know what I mean.

I'm with everyone else too. You're one tough mother-fucker for being able to do this. Braver than me. You are who you are, be proud of yourself no matter what you do. Peace.

-Andrew

Hmmm don't know how to explain this;

simply stated

RIP Brent Mcgrath (1984-2004) the fuck down the hall that started this thread.

I'm sorry to have this come aobut and thanks everyone for the kind responses, but I'm not homosexual, I am very heterosexual, as proven on friday.

I can say how sorry I am for this thread getting started, you know where the 'remember my username/password' button is there? ya it's getting check off NOW, but on MSN last week, for a day my name was 'My sister's hot I'd tap her in a second' it's an ongoing thing here in res to fuck aorund with people's stuff , ie salt in drinks, changing names/making up shit on forums.

It's getting out of hand of now, and I can assure you I am genuinely sorry for this thread and bringing out the emotions in here, I'm too pissed at the moment to even attempt to explain this but I AM NOT GAY, but I am eternally sorry for this mess.

All I can say is welcome to univeristy, slap me with an owned sticker.

Hey guys, I welcome all owned and you suck comments, I really didn't see this one coming and it was well executed.

however, he wanted war but could only muster a skirmish, I have finished the job; I hate to toy around with people like this, but at this point, I am sitting so far down the gutter that 'eye for an eye' was the only reasonable solution.

Note: If any wierd posts/threads like this appear ever again, assume it to be someone else, I will do my best to kepe myself logged out when not around, but in case, before I have to remain forever sorry once more, it isn't me, after 3 years today ont his board, I hope certain people should be able to differentiate bogus psots form normal ones.

and I was just going to tell you how many chicks you'll have now. Girls LOVE gay guys.

Well, I'm sorry to get your hopes up, but as discussed early I'm not gay.

From the sounds of it though, at least somebody got the advice they needed. :D

Neutrino; I think this was all he did, I was able to do the exact thing to him on his board (see link on other page) and I had had to use all my cunning to change his password, which I gave to his roomate to torture him or something with.

I'm reading thier equally sympathetic and heart felt replies, pretty good for a bunch of tough guys and I'm cracking up inside the quiet computer lab here at school.

This is gold, revenge is sweet.

Yeah, I think the close knit community we have here is why it worked so well. He didn't know it, but I did, it being that everyone on here would be kind and understanding enough to help me through my brief run-in with homosexuality.

I almost feel bad for him now, he has his password back but his comp is so fucked up he can't do anytihng, and the replies there keep rolling in.
