superchargers? takes power to make power

I was planning on getting a super charger but my brother told me it takes power to make power...is this true?

very tru. but superchargers make very decent power and are perfect for daily driven purposes and and still wanna make power. im guessin u gotta a 96 integra from ur username. wat model is it. and wat supercharger kit were u thinkin of.

they take power because they are run off of a belt connected to the crankshaft, which provides instant responce, but also causes the crank to do extra work to spin it. same reason why a/c takes away power from the engine.

BAD MISCONCEPTION! The only type of blowers that offer instant response are positive displacement blowers, roots or twin-screw blowers. The only roots or twin screw blower on the market is the JRSC, which offers pretty tiny power gains. Driving a vortech/procharger supercharged car will feel like it is laggier than driving a turbo car, boost ramps up with RPM's so when you have full boost @ 4000 with your turbo you might only have 2 or 3 PSI from your vortech.

i have a integra RS and it was just a thought to get a supercharger so i dont really have one in mind. i was discouraged to get one since my brother told me superchargers are sucky for hondas
so i might just stick with getting turbo
