85 cutlass problems

my car is running real rich.
i can smell gas on the inside some times when parked or idleing and im burining alot of gas.
i tried to turn down the idle but it wont go down anymore.
what can i do?
maby clean out the carborator, or are there anyways to slow down the engine idle? the idle screw is allthe way out. anybody have any tips?

you can try changing the jets, the springs, adjusting the float, rebuilding the card or buying a re-maned carb.
