weird vibration coming from under my 85 318i while driving..help

The AT shifts thru the gears but my RPM's r still at 4k at 45-50mph...is this normal for this car. also i get a loud rumble-vibration from under the car sounds like a tire is rubbing on something. can u help me with these???

if your tranny is shifting NORMALLY is your clock out? the noise could well be a worn prop shaft coupling,or rear axle. :smokin:
