Amp HELP

I'm hooking up my (I know, not that great of a system) Sony Xplode 50X4 to an Orion Xtreme 400 amp. Whenever my head unit comes on, the fuses in the amp blow. What is going on?

you got a short circuit in your wiring somewhere, your subs are bad or miswired, or the amp is just defective

first take all the speaker wires off of the amp and see if it still blows fuses, if it doesn't - check your speakers. If it does, recheck all your wiring, you probably have one strand of wire touching something it shouldn't.

Thanks for the response. I have unplugged everything except the 12v, the ground, and the remote start. As soon as it comes on, the fuses pop. I just had the amp tested at a car audio place, and they said it was good so I think it's my wiring. Any tips?

are you 100% sure all the right wires are going to all the right places and absolutely no stray wires are touching each other, or a terminal it's not supposed to

Those amps are pretty wimpy. Sony has lacked in quality over the last few years. I stopped carrying them because of it. Then, Sony wonders why they had to lay off so many workers :banghead:

Anyway, I'd unhook the subs, check all the fuses, then check the power and grounds with a voltmeter. If that all checks out, your amp is toasted. Unfortunately, it is very common with these amps.

I can only think of things that might cause problems ...... it's really hard to troubleshoot over the internet
