OK...The CEL went on(NOT the gas cap!)...Ran diagnostic at AutoZone:
P0171 - Fuel Trim System Lean Bank 1
P0172 - Fuel Trim System Rich Bank 1
P0174 - Fuel Trim System Lean Bank 2
Symptoms: low idle of 300-500rpms, intermittant stalling at stop and apparent missing...Performance relatively unaffected, though...My NY State Used Car Lemon Law basic 60 day warranty expires Monday!
:banghead: I called dealer, left message to beat deadline...
Covered under ENGINE:
block
cylinder head
engine and all internal parts
flywheel
fuel pump
manifolds
rotary engine housing
water pump
Any thoughts on what this might be and coverage status under warranty? :1zhelp:

Hey, 2eye- I sprayed some carberator cleaner around the intake manifold gasket seals and sure enough got an engine surge...looks like it is the culprit...
Question is, do you think this will be covered under the warranty??

it will be covered under your 10yr 120,000 mile warranty if you are the original owner
if you are not the original owner warranty is 5 yr 60,000 miles

For 2000-2002 isuzu's, you have 3yrs/50Kmi bumper/bumper coverage for anyone who ownes it. Like 2eye says, all subsequent owners get 5yrs/60Kmi worth of POWERTRAIN coverage. Intake manifold gaskets are covered by the powertrain warranty. Does not matter who/where/what you bought it from. If someone is telling you otherwise they are misinformed and/or trying to steal from you. Call your VIN# into an isuzu dealer to confim this.

I too had a leaking intake manifold gasket discovered at the one oil change I had done 3000 miles after I bought the used 2001 trooper. Then the motor blew 6000 miles after i bought it. You may have seen my other posts, warranty denied due to lack of lubrication.....This is getting so old....Isuzu still lays the blame on me, and is not willing to pay for the repairs, and the dealership that fixed the SUV is holding the vehicle ransom!!! I know that if this does become a court case, I will pursue this resolution in MY favor, these dummies with millions of dollars will not even cover their own mistake!!!!! Consumer beware of the 3.5l engine, its the 3.2 but bored out, and just waiting to blow. have heard of them burning one quart in 600 miles!!!!!!!!!! I am tired of this waiting game I'll tell you!!!

Hi All...this is my first posting here...need to start by saying I am not a mechanic...just a regular driver who loves his Trooper (that they aren't making them anymore is a topic to be discussed over a few beers)...anyway:
just has the T serviced by the dealer, basic health check and fluid change...afterwards, ran great. This was in prep for a road trip from Danver to San Jose (CA, not Costa Rica...!)...everything went great. When I got to Reno, I filled up and took off. after about 100yds, the "Check Engine" light came on...yes, I checked the gas cap for tightness...I have been a victim of the "loose gas cap syndrome" (pause for readers to stop laughing). Ideas? Recommendations? I do not want to call the local dealer and tell them the problem, without being well-armed with info....I have a 2001 Trooper 3.1 LS.

I had the same thing happen to my '98 Trooper while dirving across the USA to Alaska. Had to front the bill when I was stuck in WY and my warranty wouldn't cover it. Let me know if you hear of any court cases going up against them! [email protected]
