EFI just stands for Electronic Fuel Injection, of which there are many forms.
CFI = Central Fuel Injection: 1 or 2 injectors in a large throttle body which directly replaces a carburetor. also known as Throttle Body Injection (TBI)
Port fuel injection relocates the injectors to the bottom of the intake runners, increasing efficiency by reducing the amount of fuel sticking to metal surfaces
MEFI = Multi-port Electronic Fuel Injection: all injectors, or one bank at a time, fire simultaneously with identical duty cycles (amount of time injector is open for each crankshaft rotation)
SEFI = Sequential Electronic Fuel Injection: each injector fires independantly at the ideal time (approximately 270 degrees of cam rotation prior to intake valve opening). each cylinder recieves the best possible air/fuel mixture upon each intake stroke. fuel is sprayed directly onto the closed intake valve, using the heat to vaporize itself. Fuel efficiency gains from this system are substantial.
so there ya go, a basic overview of fuel injection, hope that helps.
