I've been looking for a d16z6 for a while but I run across a dohc zc for a good price. Will this bolt right to my A6 auto tranny and everything else? What about maintence and performance parts? And any problems I may have with it? I'm not to crazy about vtec or I would go with a d15b vti motor from hmotorsonline. Just wannna be happy with something for now. My d16a6 is just about gone! Thanks in advance.

Well, i can tell you right now it won't bolt into your auto tranny because you will need a manual transmission for best results.
Haven't heard of an auto DOHC ZC motor. You could always swap in an auto ls block an use the auto tranny.

As for parts, you can use most after market parts from any D-series motor since it is considered one in England (D16a8)

reliability lays upon the user. When u first recieve the motor do the basics -change timing belt, water pump, alternator, thermostat, plugs, wires, etc....

This way your motor will have a pretty fresh start under your wing. Then get an Ls computer or even the ZC if u can find it.never take your motor past 7500RPM cuz you will throw a rod.Alot of people throw rods because they over rev the engine.I would stay safe and not go past 7200RPM since you are still within the powerband.

If you don't know what you're talking about, don't fucking post. Stop the misinformation people.

Amen to that. I mean seriously, if you are not sure then say so, and if you don't know at all, the don't post. I mean, telling him to get an LS block and tranny is rediculious. For one, the LS tranny is too long, and won't fit as a resultbwithout hitting the frame rail. You have to modify the frame rail in the engine bay so it will fit, do some welding etc. I mean not only was his post wrong, but his stupid "suggestion" would have made life harder... As you said jcrx..."If you don't know what you're talking about, don't fucking post. Stop the misinformation people."

Well, the ZC is honda's quite possibly most confusing engine code. There were SOHC ZC's, DOHC ZC'S, there were SOHC-Vtec ZC's. The ZC came in many different forms. As for the DOHC ZC, I believe it was 129HP@6800rpm and 106ft-lbs of torque@5700rpm. ZC motors are 1595cc, or 1.6 liters.
