I have a 93 S-10 Blazer with a frustrating problem. I posted a few days ago but deleted it because it quit doing it and started fine.-- It turns over, but takes forever to start. I don't hear the fuel pump working like I used to when I turn the key on, and the SES code is a 54. The Auto parts store says it is a low voltage fuel pump circuit. What ever the heck that means. How and where do I check such a thing? It is driving me crazy because sometimes it starts fine. It also sputters when I give it gas at any speed unless I do it slowly. It's like it is not getting the gas fast enough. Had the EGR valve checked for that and it tested ok. I tried dry gas and injector cleaner which seemed to work at first but it is doing it again and now nothing seems to help. It all started when I ran it really low on gas. PLEASE HELP!

Try changing the fuel filter first, but more likely the fuel pump will need to be replaced. The pump (if you don't know) is located inside of the gas tank, so the tank would have to be removed to replace the pump.

Had hard starting as well on 1994 Blazer. Mine has the Central Port Fuel Injection Engine. Tried everything. Finally a call from GM dealer to factory found the answer. It was a CPI Unit with Injector. Bad news as part was $516 and installation $356 more. Works great now.

Hi all,
Thanks so much for your replies!! Ok here's the thing. We replaced the fuel pump and the fuel filter last fall, so I am not sure if I should replace them again? As for the relay under the hood on the drivers side, could you please give me a description as to what it looks like? The ground wire could be a good possibility because my husband did say he moved some wires back there but he also moved some wires in the engine too. It did clear up for a llittle while so I will have him check them again. Thanks again for the info!!
