1st Gen to 2nd gen 2.2l

I was curious to now if you could do a direct swap from a 1st gen 2.2L to the 2nd gen 2.2L? I have a 93 Cav with the 2.2L and 5 speed manual tranny. My 2.2L also has a small head gasket leak like a lot of the 1st gen ones do. I'm just looking for ideas my leak isn't to bad and it weeps out of the motor and not into the crank case. Thanks
