1998 s10 4.3l engine replacement

I have a 1998 s10 4.3l v6 4x4 4300 (lf6) engine, standard trans. vin=x
Could anyone help me find what other year engine's would bolt in and be compatable with this setup?
I've had a junk yard tell me a 2000 4.3l will bolt up but the vin is different. What kinds of problems will I encounter?
